Hamilton, Montana, is located about an hour south of Missoula, Montana and was built by “Copper King”  Marcus Daly to serve as a supporting town for the large sawmill he built here to help supply timbers for his mines. It was served by the Darby branch of the Northern Pacific Railroad; today this branch is owned and operated by Montana Rail Link.
